Thanks to all of the neighbors who were able to join us via Zoom on Wednesday, October 13 for the annual meeting of the Midway Woods Association.

Among the topics discussed were:

  • MWA Board introduction
  • Events and accomplishments for the past year
  • Looking ahead to 2022
  • Call for volunteers and new board members
  • Financial Summary
  • Security Patrol update
  • Board member election

You can check out the presentation discussed during the meeting prepared by our board president Jennifer Beaver, for more details.

Other topics of discussion that were brought up during the meeting:

What is the best way for people to find out about or get in touch with the association?

Current ways of finding out about the association and getting in touch:

There were some additional ideas that came up during the meeting:

  • Creating a “Welcome to the Neighborhood” kit that we could provide for new neighborhood residents.
  • Add a QR code to those neighborhood signs

Halloween and trick-or-treating is coming up at the end of October

And the Teal Pumpkin Project is a simple way to make trick-or-treating safer and more inclusive for the one in 13 children living with food allergies, and others impacted by intolerances and other conditions. Placing a teal pumpkin on the doorstep signals that, in addition to candy, you offer non-food trinkets and treats that are safe for all trick or treaters. You can find out more information at The Teal Pumpkin Project website.

We’ve pulled together this overview of neighborhood and area Halloween events for more information about what’s going on in our neighborhood and nearby.

Coming up next for the association: Board member elections. Some of our board members’ terms carry over for another year and some are up for re-election. We’ve had a number of additional people express interest in being on the board as well. If you are an association member and are interested in joining the board, email us at midwaywoodscommunications@gmail.com and we can add you to the ballot.

Association members should keep an eye out for an email with a link to vote on the board member candidates for 2021. Thanks again to all who were able to attend our annual meeting!
