From Ted Terry’s office: Your input wanted on how SPLOST funds should be spent

Ted Terry, Dekalb County Commissioner for Super District 6

SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) is a one-cent sales tax that provides funding exclusively for infrastructure and community projects. SPLOST I Funds, voted on in 2017, have provided tremendous benefits to DeKalb County residents and we are still using these funds for capital improvement projects today.

DeKalb County is currently evaluating needs and opportunities for SPLOST II which will ultimately be voted on by DeKalb residents this November.

Dekalb County Commissioner for Super District 6′ Ted Terrys office is hosting SPLOST Community Meetings this week to share information about the funds and to provide opportunities for DeKalb County residents to advocate for their needs.

The remaining meeting times and locations are:

  • Wednesday, August 16 from 6:30 to 8 pm, Tobie Grant Recreation Center, 593 Parkdale Drive in Scottdale. RSVP here
  • Thursday, August 17 from 6:30 to 8 pm, New Life Church and Community Center, 3592 Flat Shoals Road in Decatur. RSVP here

SPLOST II (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) has the opportunity to collect $600 million dollars to go towards projects DeKalb residents need and will benefit from for generations to come. Engaging the community must be prioritized to ensure we have ample opportunities to hear from you on where they want your tax dollars spent.

Ted Terry’s office asks: Will you take this 4 question survey and share what you prioritize for your tax dollars?

He adds: “If you have not attended in-person or virtually, please take advantage of these final meetings. Your voice counts, it is important, and I would like to hear it!”
