Great Night Out at Dearborn Park

Thanks to all the neighbors who came to the Midway Woods cookout last Sunday, August 4. Neighbors were able to reconnect and meet some new people, and enjoy a nice, cool, mostly mosquito-free evening at Dearbon Park.

The Midway Woods Association provided the hot dogs and water, and other neighbors showed up with lots of great food to share.

A special thanks to Nina Knapp-Jebens for helping prepare, set up and clean up after the picnic, and to Tony Campolo, Ed Stewart, Jill Becker, and Mickey Filipczak for staying to help us clean up from the picnic.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. This event is for all ages.

Speaking of safer neighborhoods, all neighbors are invited to join us at Avondale Pizza Cafe, 2821 East College Avenue in Decatur at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 15th for the next meeting of the Midway Woods Association.  Sgt. Jeffrey Neal ill be on hand to discuss the Midway Woods Paid Patrol and answer any questions people may have about it. (Answers to frequently asked questions about the paid patrol can also be found here: http://www.midwaywoodsassociation.org/safety/.)

All neighborhood residents are welcome — whether you are a member of the association, are participating in the paid patrol or are simply curious and want to find out more information about it!

If you are curious about the paid patrol, have questions for Sgt. Neal or want to hear about the impact that the paid patrol has had on the neighborhood — or are simply interested in meeting and socializing with your Midway Woods neighbors — please come out to our association meeting on August 15 at Avondale Pizza Cafe. We hope to see you there!!
